Monochromatic

Mixing and matching colour palettes will never be boring. As much as I love wearing colours, going Monochrome is undoubtedly a classic fashion statement that will never phase out.

Black and white monochrome style elicits several images to mind – sleek clothing, minimalist fashion, sophistication.

For this look, I experimented with textures and grayscale monochrome.

Black beaded necklace – Lovisa
Mid-calf boots – H&M

I seem to be drawn to leather this Fall and this is not the last you will see of me clothed in it. I’ve always been a fan of sophistication with a bit of an edge. One of my favourite looks from my early 20s was a black sleeveless turtleneck top with a black leather pencil skirt.

Personally, owning leather outfits in a variety of colours makes me giddy with joy. But I am feeling some strong monochrome love this season. It was good fun experimenting with colours and prints the second half of last year and for most of this year. Deeper, darker hues seem to beckon now. Oh don’t worry, it will not be droll !

This stylish crop top has the privilege of being the first crop top in my wardrobe. I purchased it last year but it got forgotten in my ever increasing pile of clothing. I like the decreasing gradient of thickness in the stripes, it lends a unique touch to the top.

Leather can be difficult to wear in the climate I live in but thankfully the skirt isn’t bulky so that makes a bit of a difference.

Having a layered beaded black necklace is a staple in my jewellery stash. It’s easy to pair with most colours and can make all the difference with jazzing up a look.

Here’s a photo taken at home that I like, pre-blog shoot..

Yes the hair is crazy messy!
But I liked it for this look.

What leather clothing items do you have in your wardrobe? I’m curious!

that’s a wrap for now,
stay tuned for another post later tonight! Time for my Sunday siesta and dreams in technicolour 🙂

    1. Thank you my darling!
Yes indeed it is, I always thought of myself a conoisseur of Italian fashion but I think French chic must have rubbed off on me as well 😀

  1. Love how you styled this look, you make me want to go out and buy the next leather boots I see! I have a leather pencil skirt I bought two years ago from asos BUT have only worn it once I can’t seem to remove the wrinkles off it! But good job girl.

    1. thanks Ratna!
I absolutely love these boots of mine and you have defo seen them in a number of my posts! It harkens back to my teens when I wore nothing but Doc Martens. yes I know the pain of leather skirts! Maybe you ought to get it drycleaned and specially ironed. Thats what I do with my ‘difficult’ clothing items! 😉

  2. I have way too many faux leather biker jackets (okay four) and two faux leather skirts which I wish could be a tad longer so I wouldn’t be so conscious about my thighs. I love this look and how you pulled it off like a bamf! I love being edgy so it’s definitely something I can try – and hopefully one day not shy away from whites. I have all-black ensembles which are a bit too flat for my liking sometimes (just because I want to hide everything under the “slimming effect”)

    1. I used to hide beneath blacks, dark browns, navy blue so I know what you’re saying but that limited my choice of clothes and there was so much that I liked but didn’t dare to wear. So I changed that habit one day and here I am today 🙂 Like you, I have an immense love for faux leather too by the way, and there’s almost always a touch of edgy in my look unless it’s supposed to be cutesy or squeaky clean 😀 Frankly, I still love all black ensembles so don’t be too hard on yourself eh? Take that step that I made when you’re ready 🙂

      1. Thank you for the kind encouragement!! I’ve only recently started to be slightly less conscious about wearing sleeveless tops or dresses out after realising that confidence is the best accessory! I keep thinking people will look at me and go “Eeeeeee” so I was always being overly insecure -.-

But I will work on it and hope to have the same awesome confidence you do ^_^ (and of course look super fab)
